1° day. LOCATION’ OF DEPARTURE – PALERMO<\/strong>
Meeting of the participating Messrs 2h before departure at MXP airport with boarding assistance. Departure and arrival in Palermo. Meeting with the bus and the local guide who will remain with the group for the entire stay in Sicily. Beginning of visits to the capital of the region with the (external) overview) of its beautiful monuments such as the Palazzo de Normanni, the Palatine Chapel, the Cathedral and the Martorana church (interiors). The latter is among the most fascinating Byzantine churches of the Middle Ages in Italy and is a testimony to Orthodox religious and artistic culture. Free lunch during the day. 2° day. HERX – SALT PANS – MARSALA<\/strong>
After breakfast at the hotel, depart by bus and visit Erice, a place that retains the charm of an ancient medieval village enlivened by traditional artisan workshops, finely decorated ceramics, colorful hand-woven carpets, and traditional almond and candied fruit sweets. The historic center has a typical urban layout, with small squares and narrow, winding streets lined with beautiful courtyards. Continuation for the famous Salt Pans that together with the windmills and vineyards, they make up a natural setting of great charm. This is followed by a visit to a winery to learn the secrets and appreciate the famous Marsala wine. Free lunch during visits. In the evening, hotel accommodation for dinner, a free evening and an overnight stay.<\/p>\n

3° day. MAZARA DEL VALLO – SCIACCA – TURKISH STAIRCASE – AGRIGENTO<\/strong>
After breakfast at the hotel, depart for the excursion that will lead to the discovery of Mazara del Vallo and Sciacca. The first preserves an old historic centre, once enclosed within the Norman walls and includes numerous monumental churches, some dating back to the 11th century. It has the typical features of the neighborhoods with an Islamic urban layout typical of the medinas, called Casbah, of which the narrow streets are a sort of trademark. The second is a seaside, tourist and spa town, known for its carnival and ceramics. Free lunch during visits.
In the afternoon, transfer to a hotel near Agrigento with a photo stop at the Scala dei Turchi, a rock face (cliff) that rises sheer above the sea along the coast between Realmonte and Porto Empedocle. Over time, it has become a tourist attraction both for the unique white cliff with its distinctive shapes and for the popularity gained from the novels featuring Inspector Montalbano written by Empedoclinian writer Andrea Camilleri. Accommodation in the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.<\/p>\n

4° day. VALLEY OF THE TEMPLES – PIAZZA ARMERINA – ACIREALE\/DINT<\/strong>
After breakfast at the hotel, loading your luggage and leaving for the Valley of the Temples, an exceptional archaeological site of important temples from the Hellenic period. Since 1997 it has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List and with its 13,000 hectares it is the largest archaeological site in the world. Free lunch and in the afternoon transfer to Piazza Armerina for a guided tour of Villa Romana del Casale, a late Roman rural residence that, thanks to its famous mosaics, has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997. Hotel accommodation in or around Acireale. Dinner, free evening and overnight stay.<\/p>\n

5° day. SYRACUSE – KNOWN<\/strong>
After breakfast at the hotel, departure and guided tour of Syracuse, the most beautiful and largest Greek colony in Sicily. The visit begins with the Archaeological Park of “Neapolis” where you will admire the Greek theatre, the Roman amphitheatre, the latomies of paradise and the ear of Dionysius and continues with the islet of Ortygia with the splendid cathedral and the famous Arethusa Fountain.
Free lunch. In the afternoon, visit Noto, famous as one of the “capitals” of Baroque art in Italy. This is due to the great earthquake of ’11 January 1693 which completely razed Noto to the ground, a very ancient city (the foundation dates back to the 5th century BC), capital of one of the three districts into which pre-unification Sicily was divided, and rich in both agricultural and manufacturing activities. At the end of the visits, return to the hotel for dinner, free evening and overnight stay.<\/p>\n

6° day. LOCATION’ OF DEPARTURE – CATANIA – TAORMINA<\/strong>
After breakfast at the hotel, load your luggage and leave for the wonderful Taormina. The city is located at about 200 meters above sea level and has a particular shape that makes it resemble, in its structure, a real panoramic terrace with a beautiful view of the Etna volcano. Stroll through the city’s main street and visit the famous Greek Theatre. In the afternoon visit to Catania. The name of the city derives from the Siculo “katane”, which means “grater”, “flayer” and which refers to the lava soil on which it stands. Free lunch during visits. In the late afternoon transfer to the airport 2 hours before the flight departs.
